Bear Mountain ONE PASS - TWO
RESORTS >> Big Bear Mountain Resorts dual mountain lift tickets and season passes
are valid at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. Access 23 lifts, 55+ runs and the
most amazing collection of parks, pipes and rails around. The
Outlaw Funpark has been featured in more magazines and videos than perhaps any
other funpark in the world. It's almost as if some boarders hijacked the grooming
equipment and custom tailored the terrain to their liking. Pro rider Neal Drake
returns to Bear to design terrain parks. More boarding stuff includes the mountain's
superpipe and the Quiksilver Terrain Park. The folks at Big Bear are also working
on a park designed for beginner and intermediate riders. This should limit some
"obstacles" in the big boy parks. Bear is also home to "Geronimo," which is probably
the best run in all of Southern California. Vital Statistics: Directions: Take

Mammoth
Mountain
Mammoth Mountain is a little too far north to be considered
a Southern Californian resort, but really, it's the best mountain this side of
Tahoe. Bought in 1956 by owner Dave McCoy, Mammoth is home mountain to many pros.
The resort has spent $120 million in the last five years to bring you the ultimate
skiing and boarding experience. The Gondolas The Panorama Gondola, a lift that
moves you 2,000 feet in just under nine minutes, has two sections: base to McCoy
Station and McCoy Station to the top of the mountain. Mammoth opens McCoy Station,
the new mid-mountain chalet, in December. The chalet features a $5 million facelift,
complete with a restaurant and food court. Snowboarding Less time on the lift
means more time on the three full-time halfpipes and three Snowboard parks. State-of-the-art
machinery enables the crew to sculpt creative and challenging pipes, wherever
they please. Vital Statistics: Directions: Mammoth is 375 miles north of San Diego.
